Although Segway are well-known for their self-balancing personal transport devices they’ve also entered the electric scooter market.
The new Segway E300SE will be arriving in UK dealers in May and promises A1 (125cc) licence holders 300cc-like acceleration up to 30mph. With a claimed 2.9s to hit 30 and a top speed of 65 mph, it should be quite impressive.
85-mile range
The scooter comes with two batteries as standard, giving an 85-mile range and there is an option (and space) to fit a third battery which will increase range by a further 50%. The high-tech motor produces 10kw of power and 200Nm of torque.
The Segway comes equipped with dual-channel ABS, Maxxis semi-slick tyres, hydraulic front suspension and dual nitrogen-filled rear shocks. Designed to suit riders of all heights it should be fairly roomy and the dual seat can accommodate a pillion.
There are 34 litres of storage space beneath the seat, or 17 litres if the third battery is fitted. The scooter also has an LED dash with smart connectivity via an app. You can also locate the scooter using GPS and remote unlock/lock it via the app.
The Segway E300SE will be priced at £3999 (including the £500 OLEV reduction) and will arrive in dealers in May.
