Welcome back SLUK fans, or at least welcome back to me!

I’ve been away doing the Isle of Wight and Mersea Island rallies. It’s been a great (but very tiring) couple of weeks on the road, meeting up with lots of friends, and making a few new ones along the way. Both weekends had very different vibes (and weather), but you can read about those when we publish our Ralleries soon.

Italjet roadshow

Rather unusually, I wasn’t attending these last two events as a mere punter. I was there to show off my wares. In case you missed the news, I was appointed as the new UK Italjet importer/distributor a few months ago.

It was great to see so many people visiting the stand and giving positive support, buying scooters and going for test rides. The scooters are all available now and you can find out more on our website here.

Whirlwind romance

I must apologise for the lack of regular new features on SLUK, but this summer has been even more hectic than usual, with a brand new business to set up, lots of legal red tape to navigate (don’t even get me started on that one!), a two-week trip to Austria for Euro Lambretta, followed quickly by my wedding and Vespa ‘honeymoon’ in Rome. Yes, honeymoon! It was hardly a whirlwind romance, but just 27 years and 55 days after we first met at the Barking Smack in Great Yarmouth (according to my wife!), Linsey and I finally tied the knot in a very small but lovely service.

The lovely bride, Justine (seated far right) and Grant (standing, wearing sunglasses)

Stax of fun

Then it was on to Porthmadog for a Lambretta Club of Wales event, Weymouth for the National and Tewkesbury for the lovely wedding/rally held for Glevum Stax members, Grant and Justine.

I’ve probably missed a few events off that list, but it’s been manic to say the least!

2027 BSRA National Scooter Rally calendar

Whilst we were on the Isle of Wight, the 2027 BSRA National Rally calendar was released (it’s been released early for the past two years to try and stop some of the clashes other events have with Nationals). You can see the flyer above, and here are the dates and the various clubs and organisations that run the events. We’ve included links to the organiser’s website or Facebook pages so you can stay up to date with the latest info.

Scarborough: 26th-28th March (VFM)

Weston-Super-Mare: 30th April-2nd May (South West Scooter Clubs)
