It’s that time of year again and I’m sure many scooterists are already on their way down to the Isle of Wight as we speak. We’ll be pointing our own Lambrettas south tomorrow morning.
Of course, this event is put on by VFM and the organisers have been on the island since earlier today to set things up at Sandown Airport ready for your arrival. The good news is, for those who have been before, the entrance road has been resurfaced recently so you’ll have lovely fresh tarmac to ride on when you get to the site.
FAQ
When you’re organising a large event like this you get a million questions in the lead up to it, and you can’t always answer right away. VFM has put together some Frequently Asked Questions (see below) so most of your questions about how much it is, who is playing, when the custom show is and of course the route and timings for the ride out are answered below.
Scooterists like you
Remember, like every National Scooter Rally, the Isle of Wight is put on by roadgoing scooterists like you. Do your best to keep the campsite clean and tidy, don’t cause a nuisance to locals, or fellow scooterists and just go and enjoy a great weekend.

Rally FAQs
Advance tickets are now finished, but you can still pay on the gate: £35 (under 16s free).
The Gate is CASH ONLY
Campsite info: Opens Thursday @ 12 noon. Please do not arrive on Wednesday trying to get on. Closes Monday @ 12 noon. Please vacate the site by then.
STRICTLY NO FIRES – this is for everyone’s safety. BBQs must be disposed of in the BBQ bin
Weekend vehicle charges
Cars and non-campervans, which must be left in the car park: £10
Camper vans: Small campervan £30, large motor home £40, sorry no electric hook up.
Day visitor car park £2
Entry charges
Day Tickets: Friday £4, Saturday £5, Sunday morning £3 (free with rideout).
Evening Tickets: Friday and Saturday evening (if not camping) – £10 per evening, pay on the gate.
Cash only on the gate.
Timetable
Traders Village: Open Friday to Sunday.
Custom show: On Saturday, from 10.00 am, trophies at approx 3.00 pm.
Custom show entries on the day – please arrive by 9.00 am
Coach info
Going into Ryde or Sandown? Regular coaches run from the campsite entrance, dropping off in Ryde at Wetherspoons and the seafront. Return is from near taxi rank on Ryde seafront.
Sandown/Shanklin at Sandringham Hotel, top of Pier Street, Chine Avenue and Shanklin Bus Station.
The coaches will run until the early hours of the morning all weekend.
Buy tickets from the kiosk near the rally site gate.
Entertainment
Main marquee: DJs from 7 pm both nights and till midnight when bands have finished.
Band times: Friday: 9.15 pm: Madchester Experience.
Saturday Carl Morris 2 pm, 8.30 pm Zipheads, 9.45 pm The Signatures.
Sunday: 2 pm The Dead Perrys.
Soul Hangar: Thursday welcome party in the hangar 7 pm-12 midnight.
Friday & Saturday: DJs from 7 pm until midnight when we switch to silent disco until late
Sunday: Free entry for our end-of-rally party 7 pm-12 midnight.
2023 Rideout route and timings
Ride safely, legally and obey all rules of the road!
Meeting at Ryde Ice Rink, leave Sunday 1:00 pm
From Ryde towards Puckpool, through Nettlestone to St Helens then down Latimer Road to Bembridge. From Bembridge to Yaverland, through Sandown High Street, to Shanklin, then Apse Heath and left into Sandown Airport. Watch the Dead Perrys on stage at 2 pm!!! Please visit the bars, caterers and trade stalls when you get there!
