As many of our readers will know, next April sees Italian scooter icon, Vespa, celebrating its 80th anniversary.

As with most anniversary years, 70th, 75th, etc, Piaggio have produced a couple of special editions to celebrate.

Vespa GTS 80th

As a nod to the original pastel coloured Vespas of the 1940s, the anniversary models come in Verde Pastello green, which is the same colour code as the original 1946 scooters.

Colour coding

This model has certainly been colour-coded to the max with pastel green being used for items like the legshield trim, special edition wheels (inspired by the 1946 Vespa 98), the mirrors, grab rail, front suspension linkage and switch gear. The inner legshield plastics, floor runners and centre mat have also been tinted in green and the seat finishes the tone-on-tone styling quite nicely.

80th anniversary badges can be found on the legshields and glovebox door.

What do you think to the new matt green colour option for the GTV?

Primavera 80th

Suspended in the circle on the stand, the 80th Primavera shares all the same touches and details as the GTS 80th, but also includes a new aesthetic touch. For the first time, this smallframe Vespa (and the Sprint) gains panel louvres on the left-hand side.

Vespa Sprint S

The sportier ‘S’ version of the Sprint is available in the stunning Blu Eclettico colour for 2026, it’s a traditional Vespa colour and really works well on the smallframe. The show model was also fitted with some official Vespa accessories like the black centre floor carrier and rear rack. Like the GTS SuperSport, it also comes with black switchgear, legshield trim, wheels, mirrors, levers, and an exhaust heat shield.

Sprint Elettrica

Although it was always built on the same chassis as the petrol version of the Primavera/Sprint models, the Elettrica has been renamed Sprint Elettrica for 2026. It’ll be available in 45kmh and 70kmh versions.

The show model looked really smart in its glossy green paintwork, hopefully Piaggio roll that colour out to the GTS as well.

Birthday party

2026 is a big year for Vespa and they’ll be celebrating in style at Vespa World Days in Rome from 25th to 28th June.
