This coming weekend sees Green Light Scooters and Straightliners running their first joint Scooter Shootout event at Melbourne Raceway, near York.
The event is open to all scooters and gives riders a chance to ride flat out up a sprint track to see what the sport is all about. Sprinting is surprisingly addictive so be careful you don’t get hooked! Whether your scooter is an auto or geared machine, new or old you can take it up the track.
What to wear?
- Full-face helmet with ACU gold sticker
- Textiles/armoured jeans/leathers
- Leather riding gloves
- Boots covering the ankle
When?
16th-17th September 08:30-17:00
How much?
- Entry fee: £15 per person (per day)
- Race fee: £35 per person (per day)
- Camping is free once you’ve paid for a weekend ticket.

Sprinter and co-organiser, Adie Horrocks said “My idea is, as always, to try and get more people to take up scooter sprinting On the plus side, the Melbourne Raceway has a large camping area and scooter riders love to camp. I’ve focussed the event on scooterists that normally just ride to the rallies and hook up with their mates.”
“The format is nice and easy, just pay on the day. Mike Pacey, Andrew Sharkey and myself will be the points of contact throughout the weekend to answer any queries. This is literally a turn-up, sign on (if you’re racing), get your scooter looked over by the Straightliners safety staff and go and have fun racing your mates. The perfect place to settle those pub debates on who is fastest…”
