This weekend sees the UK’s biggest bike show opening its doors at the NEC in Birmingham. Motorcycle Live in association with Bikesure will run from November 19th-27th.
Of course, most of our readers will be most interested in seeing the latest new scooters in the flesh. If you’re into modern or retro scooters you’ll have plenty to see from the likes of Royal Alloy, Lambretta, Italjet, Kymco, Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki and Suzuki. Noticeable by their absence (again) are the Piaggio Group which is a big disappointment for many of us. However, there are over 50 manufacturers displaying at the event and there will be bargains to be had on many of the trade stalls so there’s plenty of other stuff to look at.
Over the course of the eight day show, visitors have plenty of opportunities to not only sit on the new models but also to ride many of them for free. There’s the Test Ride Zone (kit is supplied), you can have a go at off roading in the Experience Adventure area, there’s also an Electric Test Ride Zone and novice riders can ride a bike for the very first time in the MCIA backed TryRide zone. Remember to bring your licence though if you’re planning to take a test ride.
One new feature for 2022 is The ‘Dream Garage’ where a selection of high profile racers have been asked to name the one bike they’d love to have in their own garage. Ten of those models will be on display.
Custom fans will enjoy seeing how ‘the other half’ do things on the Back Street Heroes ‘Custom Heroes’ stand.
Of course there will also be loads of banter and action on the Blackhorse stage where James Whitham will be looking after a variety of guests in his own humorous style. There will also be plenty of interactive games and competitions on there for visitors to enjoy.
Tickets and info
Advance tickets can be purchased here until 5pm on November 18th, they cost £22 for adults (plus £2 booking fee), under 5’s go free and 6-18 year olds cost just £1. If you’re planning on taking the family there are a few interactive features for kids of all ages, including a Youth MX Experience, Kiddimoto Balance Bike Experience and a Ricky Zoom colouring competition.
You can pay on the door of course, ticket prices are £27 and there’s a £16.95 car parking charge at the NEC.
