BMW has revealed a near-production-ready version of its funky-looking CE 02, a 125cc equivalent electric bike/scooter.
The CE 02 is due to be released in April 2024 and BMW says it’s neither an e-scooter nor an e-motorcycle. So what is it? Apparently, it’s an eParkourer…
Aimed at a younger market, the CE 02 can be ridden on a 50 or 125 licence – providing the teenager/young person/parents have £7400 spare of course! It’s designed to be nimble, practical and robust whilst looking cool and being ripe for a bit of extra customisation.
The standard version comes in black with granite grey metallic matt finish for the ‘engine’ cover. There’s also a special HIGHLINE version (pictured below) with anodised gold forks and ‘Petrol’ coloured detailing to the seat, frame inserts and rim tape.
Ride it from 16
The CE 02 will come in two versions, a 5bhp/28mph model that can be ridden by anybody over the age of 16 with an AM licence, or a 15bhp/69mph machine, which can be ridden by 17-year-olds in the UK.
Riding modes
Riders can choose between “Flow” and “Surf” riding modes with Flow being good for cruising, whilst Surf is more suited to the open road. The HIGHLINE offers an optional extra “FLASH” mode for a sportier ride.
Chassis
The CE 02 comes with a double-loop frame made from tubular steel, it has hydraulically damped telescopic forks and a rear single-sided swinging arm and mono shock. Wide tyres are mounted onto cast rims and disc brakes all round provide the stopping power. It also has ABS at the front.
TFT display
An easy-to-read TFT display sits up front to give the rider all the vital info and there’s a USB-C charging socket to power your mobile device. The BMW Connected app allows your phone to display when the scooter is finished charging via Bluetooth. There’s also an additional smartphone holder that allows your phone to be used as an additional display using the keypad on the handlebar.
