Musical highlights coming up at ScooterExpo | NEWS

For ScooterExpo 2 we decided to put a slight spin on the event and invite those with scooters inspired by music to enter their machines to the exhibition, along with the general invitation for classic and customs.

The response was literally overwhelming and as a result, we have added a few extra spaces to accommodate the 119 entrants who got a place. Those scooters will be displayed over two spacious halls on Sunday 21st of May, for one of the largest invitation scooter shows for a long time.

New, old, revamped and unveiled

The entry list includes classics from 1948 through to the 70s and custom scooters from 1979 to a dozen or so being unveiled for the very first time, the variety of machines on display will keep visitors busy all day. I know there are a few oldies coming out of the woodwork too with plenty we can’t wait to see either again or for the first time.

Regarding the term ‘scooter music’, if you know someone who uses it to seemingly pigeonhole basic ska, soul, mod and indie style, then maybe you could bring them along to ScooterExpo and see what’s on show next Sunday.

We have scooters entered from Rhapsody in Blues (Reprise) to Atlantic Soul, we have a virtual jukebox full of fantastic scooters that have been inspired by a variety of bands, including:

There are also general blues, soul, ska/ rocksteady and rave-inspired scooters. Not a bad collection, right?
And that’s before we look at the range of Vespa GS scooters entered – produced in Italy, Germany and Belgium, plus other scooters made in Spain, India and Great Britain. It’ll be an eclectic collection.

Hall 1 – The Bowling Hall

This room will be transformed into an emporium of scooter exotica on Sunday 21st, you’ll also be able to hear the guest speakers talking in a side room near to the bar.

ScooterExpo 2 takes place on Sunday 21st May at Alfreton Leisure Centre In Derbyshire. It costs £6 to get in and doors open at 10 am. As well as a bumper crop of fine motor scooters we also have guest speakers, live airbrush painting and signwriting, plus a selection of quality traders and craftspeople showing a range of scooter products for everything from classic to custom, resto to racing.
