This weekend (Saturday, 22nd February), it’s the annual Burton Brewer’s Custom Show & Parts Fair at Paget High School in Branston.

Those crafty Brewers have timed it perfectly because it looks like spring is going to arrive on Saturday. With a forecast for 11º and sunny, it’s the perfect excuse for a mid-winter ride out. The event usually attracts around 2000 punters so it’s a great place to catch up with your friends after the winter break.

76 scooters

We asked one of the organisers, Ian Vanes-Jones, how plans were going, and he said, “Plans are going great; it’s all falling into place with just a few days to go. We have 76 pre-booked scooters and more traders booked in than last year, so we have created more space for them to set up.”

Burton usually sees brand-new custom scooters making their debut on the show circuit, so it’s always worth a visit. This year, there are at least five new machines being unveiled, including one travelling all the way from Scotland. Of course, there will also be plenty of well-established classic and custom scooters.

Traders

As well as the custom show, Burton always has a good selection of traders and jumble stalls. This year is set to have more than ever, and if the weather is as good as the forecast, the outside courtyard will be very busy, as will the scooter-only parking area.

Also outside, there will be a choice of five food vans and a licenced bar, plus the school dinner hall will be set up for hot drinks.

Useful info

  • The show opens at 11 am and runs until 3:30 pm
  • It’s held at Paget High School, Burton Road, Branston, DE14 3DR
  • Entry costs £5 (all day and night)
  • Free scooter parking on-site

Getting there

Branston is just south of Burton with easy access from the A38, although there’s a diversion from the A38 at the minute, so attendees will have to follow the signs but ignore the “Road closed” signs on Branston Road.

Evening event

If you’re stopping over, there’s a do at the newly refurbished, 1000-capacity Complex nightclub. The place holds 1000 people and will have live music from Skabucks, as well as DJs Jay Watson and Marshmallow. The event starts at 8 and goes on till late. You can find the complex at George Street, Burton, DE14 1NA.
