Innovative British electric scooter company, Zapp has announced details of its new DSDTC – Drop Ship Direct To Customer sales model.
The company which builds its i300 scooters to order in the UK already has a growing network of boutique-style authorised dealers. They have an online configurator and sales platform but now you can have your new Zapp drop shipped direct to your home without even leaving the house.

Our agile manufacturing model means we can fulfil customer orders quickly and efficiently, which reduces financially wasteful and environmentally harmful wholesale stock build-up.”

Whether a customer orders through a dealer or direct online the scooter is ordered through the company’s global sales platform. Once made it gets delivered in a “Zapper” van by a “Zapper” technician who will provide a full handover of the scooter.
Their ‘Demand pull’ strategy means that wholesalers only need to have a demo model available for customers to test ride and look at. Once the customer has ordered and configured the scooter it gets built and shipped. This stops the need for additional warehousing and reduces the need for a dealer to carry lots of stock.
To further increase customer convenience, any regular servicing of the i300 will also be carried out on-site at the customer’s home, or office by your local “Zapper.”

We visited the firm in London back in 2018 before they’d even built a scooter and it’s good to see the production model looking every bit as good as the concept. Built at their Bicester HQ, the i300 is an urban electric high-performance scooter with high levels of finish and performance. The i300 is built on an aerospace-grade alloy load-bearing exoskeleton over a chrome-moly steel tube undertone frame. The scooter makes 20bhp (capped at 14kw to satisfy legislation) and does 0-30 in 2.4 seconds. Prices start at £4795 and go up to £7995 for the launch edition carbon model.
