Ahead of next week’s prestigious EICMA trade show in Milan, Yamaha have released details for their all-new 2023 XMAX range.
The family consists of the XMAX 125/Tech Max 125, XMAX 300 and Tech MAX 300. Yamaha have also announced that the global version of the new XMAX 300 will be produced in their Indonesian factory where it will be aimed primarily at Thailand and other Asian countries. European models will still be produced at their MBK factory in France where they produce 80,000 scooters, motorcycles and recreational vehicles per year.
The 2023 XMAX 300 Tech Max retains its identity but comes with all new bodywork, virtually every part of the sporty exterior has been redesigned to accentuate its character. The front fairing has been condensed and is more angular than the previous model. The indicators are also mounted higher up to make them more visible. The side profile has been designed to have a much “More condensed and athletic look.”
There’s also a radical new X-shaped headlight/position light that makes the 2023 XMAX instantly recognisable. The rear lights also form an X-shape when lit and feature integrated rear indicators.
The Tech Max also has some new tech with a multi-theme 4.2-inch full colour TFT screen with smartphone connectivity and Garmin compatible navigation (accessed through the Garmin StreetCross app). The screen can receive emails, messages and notifications, as well as allowing other smartphone functions to be used. There’s also a separate 3.2-inch LCD speedo which means the rider can always see the speed without interfering with functions on the TFT screen.
Comfort wise the leather-look seat has been redesigned. It’s slimmer and shorter with a revised front taper to help riders touch the floor more easily.
Of course the XMAX 300 also comes with Yamaha’s powerful Euro 5 Blue Core 300cc engine, which also features traction control
Price and availability
The XMAX 300 Tech Max (and 125 Tech Max) will be available from March 2023 in a choice of Dark Petrol or Tech Black. The slightly lower spec XMAX 300 (and XMAX 125) will be available in Icon Blue or Sonic Grey. Prices are yet to be announced.
