Scooters on the deck of the Isle of Wight ferry from Southampton.

It’s only another couple of weeks until the Isle of Wight International Scooter Rally and you can win a pair of tickets and return travel with Red Funnel!

That’s right, VFM has kindly given us a pair of weekend tickets worth £60) for the rally and all the entertainment at Sandown Airport.

Getting there

Of course, you need to get there first, luckily Red Funnel has also given us a ferry crossing from Southampton to the Isle of Wight for two people and a scooter.

How to enter

Every scooterist loves to see rally photos, so we want you to share one of your favourites. It doesn’t have to be from the Isle of Wight, just email us your favourite ever scooter rally image. It has to be owned by you, or have the photographer’s permission, and be as high resolution as possible (images lifted from Facebook aren’t good enough quality).

IOW Comp

Email your ‘IOW Comp’ photo to us at editorial@scooterlab.uk and tell us a bit about it, where and when it was taken and anything else interesting about the event or photo. Also, let us know what you’ll be riding there this year.

All photo entries will be posted on this page and we’ll pick our favourite on Monday 12th August.

#1 Sarah Coope

This is my Electronic 1979 Alpine Sprite DD with my vintage caravan on the way to the National Rally at the Big 7 in Margate. My scooter is especially important to me as it belonged to my dear friend, Ciara who sadly passed away 6 years ago. I ride it to work at least once a week.
We always have a great time at the National Rallies! I spend most of my time serving teas and coffees to my mates who are camping and I do a mean fry up! It’s hard to get them out of the van once they are inside!
I hope I win! Thank you 😊

#2 Tim Rickards

Please find my picture for the IOW competition, it was taken on the IOW ride out 2022. It was my partner’s first scooter rally and just sums up what a fantastic place and event it is. We will be there again this year, either on the Gilera Runner again or a Scomadi.

Best regards
Tim Rickards

#3 Jason Burpitt

This thing was a right pile of crap, with different bits off of different Vespas. After getting fed up with it being completely cut down I used some old scrap metal off an old washing machine and bodged on some makeshift legshields. One year I rode this pile of poo to Mersea and as a bit of a joke I stuck it in the custom show, only to come away with a trophy for Best Vespa to my amazement! Only to see a bloke absolutely fuming as his nicely restored Vespa GS didn’t win anything!

Regards

Jason Burpitt

#4 David Jenkins

No info with this one I’m afraid.

Winner! #5 Richard Griffiths

This was our favourite photo, scooterists doing what they need to do to get a scooter home under its own wheels. Get in touch at editorial@scooterlab.uk and we’ll sort your prize out Richard.

#5 Richard Griffith

My S2 needing surgery at Smallbrook some years ago now.

Cheers

#6 Andrew Fox

This was at Mid Cheshire last week, a gathering of old and new friends. Scooter rallies at their best.

#7 Ellis

One of about a thousand pictures I have on my phone from the IOW.
I never can remember which ones I’ve shared, and never can bring myself to delete them 🤓

Best regards

En route to Isle of Wight, August 22, through the M6 Toll in the rain.
All the best

#9 Steve

Goin on my old chop, hope the weather is the same as in the photo, riding a Rally for a dear friend.

Thanks

Steven

#10 Dave Wren

A pic of mine and the Mrs’ scooters on the way to Great Yarmouth scooter rally last year. Her first rally adventure.

#11 Dean Bennet

Morning, attached is a photo taken on our way to Adria a few years ago at the top of The Alps in Switzerland. I’ll be riding a  lynx to IOW

Cheers

Dean

#12 Martin Hopkin

My name is Martin and this photo was taken at oddballs in August 2017 and as you can see it is a bit of a strange one. I don’t usually dress up in women’s clothing but there are a few of us who do it for charity and have a bit of fun at a lot of the rallies we go to (I say it’s for charity but maybe we all quite enjoy the attention it brings). The ladies’ clothes are brought from one of the charity stalls at the rally and this charity was for Teenage Cancer Trust. I wasn’t planning on going to IOW this year as funds haven’t allowed.

This year I am riding the very scooter I am sitting on in the picture but I also have a Lambretta GP 200 which I also ride.
