Indian company Liger have launched the world’s first self balancing two wheeled scooter.
Yes, that’s right, you never need to put a foot to the floor when you come to a stop. The patented revolutionary design is an industry first and one that European and Japanese manufacturers will be gutted to miss out on. Unsurprisingly not many details about the Voodoo that makes this thing stand up have been released.
The AutoBalancing system enables the scooter to balance automatically at low speeds or when stationary. It’s a significant safety aid for new, or inexperienced riders and will also be a bonus for shorter riders.
The system boasts
- Feet on footboard – FootFreeStop
- Reverse like a car with ReverseRide
- Learner mode – use AutoBalancing along with speed limiting to teach new riders in a controlled manner
- Over-the-air updates (OTA) – updates the scooter’s software over time
The AutoBalancing system goes into ‘standby’ once the scooter gets up to speed and the rider can activate/deactivate it at low speeds as required.
Two models
The tech will be fitted to two models initially, the Liger X (60kmh range) and the longer range (100kmh) Liger X+, both scooters are electric and powered by liquid-cooled Lithium-ion battery packs. They have a top speed of 65kmh. Both models are 4G and GPS enabled, they also come with an app. The Liger X+ also comes with a TFT display with turn-by-turn navigation.

Less than £900!
The scooters will be available in five colours and have an Indian price of 90,000 Rupees, that equates to less Than £900. Whether we’ll see these particular scooters in the UK or not remains to be seen but it certainly won’t be the last wee see of this technology. You can keep an eye on Liger here.
