A couple of weeks ago, Chorley-based multi-brand importer MotoGB started using the imagery above on their Facebook profile, hinting at a UK return for Scomadi.
Remember, this is the company responsible for bringing Royal Alloy into the country until November 2024 (when RA parted ways with them). They were also at the heart of a long, protracted legal battle with Scomadi a few years ago.
Due to their Facebook advertising, we ran a little story on the possibility of Scomadi coming back to the UK under the MotoGB umbrella.
Euro 5+
We’ve now heard from the horse’s mouth in Thailand that Scomadi will NOT be coming back to the UK with MotoGB, although the company HAS contacted Scomadi Thailand recently to enquire about becoming an importer.
As expected, Scomadi is still concentrating on the Asian market and currently does not offer Euro 5, or Euro 5+ engines/scooters, which are needed to satisfy current European legislation.
RetroTech Racing
However, RetroTech Racing does have five new Scomadi TT 125/TT 200s sporting the latest upgrades (including improved steering bearings and speedos).
Those models will be individually put through SVA – Single Vehicle Approval and registered for sale. Dave at RetroTech has been working with Scomadi for quite a few years and has already put non-homologated Scomadis through SVA. He told us “They go through the emissions testing no problem, I just have to do a couple of other modifications to them.”
Scomadi spares
RetroTech is also the go-to place for Scomadi spares; Dave gets them directly from Scomadi and has parts in stock for the TL/TT models. If you need anything or want a very limited edition, almost new TT 125 or 200, you can contact him via his website.
