Aprilia and the Piaggio Group have raised €200,000 at Misano over the weekend by donating €10 per person and holding MotoGP charity auctions.
The Aprilia All Stars event attracted 15,000 fans to Misano for a weekend of track action from MotoGP riders, including Aleix Espargaró, Meverick Viñales, Lorenzo Savadori, Miguel Oliveira and Raul Ferandez. These were joined by Aprilia world champions of the past, including Max Biaggi, Loris Capirossi and Alex Gramigni.
Aprilia fans were treated to on-track action from RS-GPs ridden by MotoGP riders, RSV4 superbikes and the legendary 250 2-strokes of yesteryear. The 250s filled Aprilia’s trophy cabinet with no less than 18 world titles and 143 GP wins during its supreme reign.
The riders donated racing memorabilia such as helmets, leathers and boots which were auctioned off to help the victims of the devastating floods. The Italian Navy have been instrumental in helping the relief efforts in Emiglia Romagna and they were on hand during the weekend along with their awe-inspiring helicopters – the MotoGP riders were lucky enough to get a ride!
Motor Valley
Known as Motor Valley, Emiglia Romagna is at the very heart of Italian motorcycling and motoring production, culture and history. Ducati, Italjet and Ferrari are just three of the local manufacturers. So it was no surprise that bike fans gave generously. The €200,000 will go towards Milia Romagna’s Civil Protection.
Flooded scooter museum
