Innovv P1 portable tyre inflator – reader offer | REVIEW

I’ve been looking for a good quality, compact tyre inflator and power bank for a while and the Innovv P1 fits the bill perfectly.

What is it?

It’s a rechargeable and powerful tyre inflator with a 6000mAh battery, capable of running continuously for 22 minutes. It can inflate up to 12 car tyres, 18 motorcycle tyres, 24 bike tyres or 72 balls on a single charge! There’s also a power bank feature, and a torch/SOS flashlight so you can charge your mobile multiple times and also use it as a tent light whilst you’re camping.

Quality

The P1 weighs in at 700 grammes and feels like a decent bit of kit; that’s because the body is made from aluminium rather than cheapo plastic. It also houses a cooling fan, and the casing is vented through the laser-cut ‘Innov’ lettering on either side.

Compact

Sizewise, it measures 170mm, 90mm x 60mm. That’s a bit longer than my iPhone 11, but it’s small enough to fit in a glove box or a rally bag.

In the box

As well as the Innov P1 you also get a standard type tyre air hose, it’s 300 mm long and is able to fit easily on all the valves I’ve tried it with, from Lambrettas to modern autos and my van.

There’s also a little bag with four adapters that can be used to pump up footballs etc. You also get a USB-C charging cable, an instruction booklet, a couple of stickers and a bag to put it all in.

Which mode?

The P1 can be set up to inflate in bar/PSI/kPa/KG/cm² and it’s simple to switch between them.

There are also four specific modes: Car, Motorcycle, Bicycle and Ball, plus a Custom mode. Each mode has its own preset range of minimum and maximum pressures. Sadly, none of these work for a traditional scooter tyre. The tyres on my Lambretta are 18PSI front, 28 rear. Not a problem, though, because custom mode can be set for anything up to a max of 150PSI. That mode is accessed by scrolling down until the ball symbol disappears.

Pump it up

When using it for the first time, screw in the air hose to the base of the unit.

Turning on the Innovv P1 is easy, just press and hold the rubberised power button, then select your mode using the down button (in our case, custom). Use the + or – keys to select your desired pressure.

Pop the air hose onto your tyre valve and pull the lever down to lock it in place.

Press the start button and your tyre will inflate very quickly. The P1 has an auto stop feature, so there’s no need to keep an eye on it, but a scooter tyre will inflate from flat in less than a minute.

Powerbank

I took the P1 to a camping rally (it was great company). The plan was to use it to charge my phone over the weekend; the flaw in that plan was that I didn’t bother to read the instructions before I left. So, on Friday night, my phone had died. I plugged it in using a USB cable, and the charging symbol appeared on both my phone and the unit. Then, after a few seconds, it went off. I tried a few times to no avail.

After reading the instructions when I got home, I found that to charge your phone you have to leave the unit switched off before you plug it in, not the other way round. It does actually work perfectly, and the 6,000mAh battery will keep you juiced up for a few days. You can also use it to run other accessories, like the Innovv cameras, for instance.

Flashlight

There’s also a handy LED torch on the P1. It has the option to be used as a standard white light or red for emergency situations. The red can be set to flash for use in an emergency.
