UK sprinter, Adie Horrocks has announced he’s going to be attempting the Vespa Top Speed World Record at a week-long top speed event at Elvington in May.
In the video above, Adie can be seen racing a 430bhp BMW M3. It gives you quite a good idea of what a well-sorted Vespa smallframe can achieve.
130 mph
The British record currently stands at 122mph but the Green Light Scooters rider is hoping to crack 130 on his 55bhp BFA-powered Vespa! Adie is asking for sponsorship from businesses and donations from supporters to help raise some of the funds needed to have a crack at the record attempt.

Donations and sponsorship will go towards the significant costs of taking part in a World Speed Record attempt. Riding at this level isn’t like a ‘Run what ya brung’ sprint meeting. The entry costs alone are £1800 for the top-speed event, then he’s expecting to need £300 worth of race fuel for the seven-day event. Then there’s £200-£300 worth of race tyres, £60 worth of two-stroke oil. And that’s before he’s broken any parts during the attempt.
The British Bonneville
The UK & ITA International Speed Week will be held from May 20th-27th and is being hosted by Straightliners. It’s expected to attract a whole host of petrolheads and speed freaks. Organiser, Trevor Duckworth is hoping to see the 300mph barrier cracked and said “It’s going to be a major event. We’re not sure yet if it’ll become biannual or yearly but what we’re trying to offer is an alternative to going to Bonneville – it costs a fortune to transport a bike there and race.”

This is true Paolo but he wants to achieve it without a screen/streamlining.
