Like many manufacturers, Vespa are known for their special editions. This latest Vespa 946 10º Anniversario Rabbit is certainly one for collectors.
You may well ask, ‘Why a rabbit?’ well the answer lies in the stars. January 22nd is the start of the new lunar year and the animal reference for 2023 happens to be the rabbit!
Vespa 946 10th anniversary
2023 is the tenth anniversary of what is still the most expensive production Vespa ever produced. The Vespa 946 has become a collector’s item. Those collectors will be pleased to know that this special edition will be limited to just 1000 units.
Aside from the colourful graphics, the Vespa 946 10º Anniversario has detailing in a burnished finish. It also has special edition logos and the saddle is double upholstered and hand-stitched, as are the handgrips.
Haute Couture
The 946 is built on a dedicated Italian production line that is said to be more “Haute couture atelier” than you’d expect in a scooter factory. The 10º Anniversario model will come in a reworked version of the classic Vespa green; “To symbolise the love of fun, light-heartedness, and nature typical of those born under this sign.” In Chinese culture the rabbit has the following personality traits; Kind, sensitive, artistic, romantic, judgmental, timid and refined. Although I’m not sure why Chinese mythology was chosen to represent an Italian icon?
The first of 12
The Vespa 946 10º Anniversario Rabbit is the first in a series of special editions that are planned for the next 12 years. Each year, the 946 will arrive with a theme relating to that year’s lunar symbol. For 2024 we can expect a Dragon special edition.
