If you enjoy watching lots of scooters racing each other and can make it to Teesside this weekend, it’s round two of the British Scooter Endurance Championships.
Eight hours of non-stop racing action starts at 10 am on Saturday, when 26 riders will run across the track to their waiting machines.
I’ll be having a wobble round myself on the London Lambretta #4 machine. Having missed the last two rounds, I’m quite excited to be getting back out on track again!
Teesside track configuration
Scooter Endurance uses the red track configuration but also includes the blue loop shown on this circuit diagram. It’s a decent track to ride, with a fast back straight and plenty of corners, from hairpins to fast sweeping bends. The tarmac can be a bit iffy in places, with the odd lump and bump to contend with. In the dry, it’s grippy, but when it’s wet, it’s very slippery. Fingers crossed won’t be worrying about the wet this weekend…
Free entry
As always, it’s completely FREE to turn up and spectate at scooter endurance. Teesside Autodrome is a great track for spectators to see most of the action, up close.
Parking is also free and there’s a cafe on site, but with the weather forecast looking good for Saturday, bring yourself a flask and a picnic.
Live feed
If you’ve watched the Alpha Timing BSEC live feeds in the past, you’ll be disappointed to hear that there won’t be one for this meeting. That’s another good reason to get yourself there and watch it live at the track instead. You’ll be surprised just how quick some of these scooters are, they always look much slower on telly.

Championship standings
Various classes form part of the BSEC Championship, and as we go into the second round, it’s all still up for grabs. An overall winner is decided on the number of laps completed during the two rounds. Here’s how things are looking…
Club Class: Second to sixth is split by just 30 laps.
Road Class: First to fourth in Road Class split by 20 laps.
Race Class: Second to fourth, just six laps
Pro Race Class: This one is a bit more spread out, but the Italians from Team Dexter, who won at Whilton Mill aren’t there this time.

Saturday: 8:30 am – 9:30 am – qualifying/timed practice
10 am-6 pm: Tside8 Endurance event
6:45pm: Trophy presentations
