It’s fair to say that SIP Scootershop make the coolest scooter imagery and video on the planet.
Their latest feel-good film tells the story of their recent 1,000 km “Epic Ride” across Thailand on vintage Vespas.
Riding with friends
The group consisted of SIP co-founders Ralf and Alex, as well as purchasing manager Moritz and a few friends.
The trip was organised by Lome from Vintage Vespa Thailand. In addition to organising great scooters, food, accommodation, and scenery, he also arranged a police escort and a few surprises along the way.

Imitation
The organised tour took the group from Bangkok and headed south to catch a ferry to Koh Chang a few days later. SIP and the gang visited traditional Vespa shops along the way and were pleased to see their parts in use, even in remote areas. They also spotted some SIP fakes and decided (in this case) imitation is the greatest form of flattery!
Pattaya Vespa Club
Thailand is a place where nothing is left standard for long, the perfect place for Vespa culture. A local saying goes something like, “You’d better walk than ride standard.” Once the group arrived in Rayong, a coastal town south of Pattaya, they were joined by other members of the Pattaya Vespa Club, for live music, a BBQ and beers on the beach with around 200 invited guests.
The following day, their numbers swelled to around 40 Vespas as they headed close to the Cambodian border.
In typical scooterboy style, a seized piston saw “Mr Benz” stripping a stricken Vespa at the jetty and finishing the rebuild on the short ferry crossing to Koh Chang. Although I’m not sure a celebratory burnout was such a good idea on a rebuilt engine…
Cooling down
After a long and hot ride, interspersed with the odd fishing and snorkeling trip what’s better than a sunset beach BBQ? How about a sunset beach BBQ with a few elephants to splash around in the sea with?
