This weekend sees the first National Scooter Rally in Margate since 2007 and it looks like being a cracker.

The town has hosted some great scooter rallies over the years and also had its fair share of notoriety.

Big 7 have put lots of work and even more money into getting this rally up and running, they’ve also secured a fantastic campsite with its own beach bar and a great venue for all the entertainment, stalls and custom show. The only downside to the agreement was that it has to be ticket only. However, tickets are still available and with the forecast being warm and sunny any last-minute deciders can get a ticket here.

Here’s some rally info you might need…

  • It’s 17 years since the last National in Margate
  • Since we last went there in 2007, the town has been regenerated.
  • This will be Margate’s 13th National
  • It’s free entry into the custom show and parts fair on Saturday
  • Coastal ride-out to Ramsgate on Saturday, stopping at the biggest Wetherspoons in the country!
  • Evening entertainment is held at the iconic Dreamland
  • Dreamland is open until 2.00 am (bars close 1.30 am)
  • Live music venue, with original and tribute bands
  • Soul Room hosted by KTF Soul Club
  • Mainstream room with top rally DJs
  • Clifftop campsite with its own beach bar actually on the beach!
  • Shuttle bus from the campsite into town every 15 minutes for the entirety of the weekend
  • The local council are allowing scooters to park sensibly on pavements
  • Advance tickets only but there are still some tickets available here

A word from the organisers

A spokesperson for Big 7 told us “Margate’s the perfect place to host a National Scooter Rally once again. Recently regenerated, with its long sandy beaches, old town streets, bars, pubs, restaurants, ice cream and doughnuts and of course iconic Dreamland, Margate’s seaside sensation. There’s something for everyone and trust us, there’ll be plenty of scooters around town too! We’ve put a lot into trying to make this rally successful and it’s taken more organisation than all of our previous rallies put together, but we think we’re there! We’ve even managed to get Thanet District Council on side and they’ve kindly agreed not to ticket any scooters parked on pavements throughout the weekend (presuming they are parked considerately and do not cause obstruction). So, yeah… see you in Margate this weekend!
