Yamaha has established a new European-based battery-swapping company with a focus on recycling.
The new company, ENYRING GmbH, based in Berlin will offer swappable batteries at battery stations throughout the city (from 2025) before moving to other cities in Germany and the Netherlands.
ENYRING’s aim is to create a “Closed loop in which recycled materials are used as resources towards creating new products.” Their sustainable, recycling-orientated society will see collaborations between Yamaha Motor and their partner companies to reduce the economic and time burden on customers and the environment.

ENYRING will be targeting compact low-speed urban electric vehicles (mainly eBikes – like the Yamaha Booster we road tested last year) and will rent out batteries on a subscription-based service. The batteries can then simply be swapped out at one of the swappable battery stations.
This eliminates the hassle of recharging, as well as the cost of buying a battery in the first place (or replacing one when your battery nears the end of its life). Used batteries will be recycled or used as storage batteries. The ENYRING project is part of the Yamaha Motor Group Environmental Plan 2050 which aims to create a carbon-neutral-world.
