Heads up for Tilsberk/Sygic rider navigation | NEWS

This kind of tech was once only available to fighter pilots and sci-fi characters but now we mere mortals can use head-up display in our own motorcycle helmets for about the price of a bike sat nav.

Developed by Tilsberk and using Mobile SDK tech from Sygic, this head-up display can be retrofitted into most crash helmets in seconds and will give great at-a-glance information onto your visor. The device weighs just 44 grams and doesn’t need any cables. It’s rechargeable and lasts around 12 hours, so will do for a full day of riding.

What info does it give?

The device connects to the user’s phone via Bluetooth and projects info on speed limits, actual speed, upcoming turns and the time and distance travelled. Navigation supports import through GPX files or direct connection with the Calimoto app and uses compact TomTom mapping. It also shows incoming calls and battery levels for phone and head-up.

The Tilsberk head-up display is controlled through a dedicated app which allows users to customise the display, start a route and access other features. Riders can choose various modules and display layouts depending on their individual needs.

Sygic played a small but significant part in the development with its Mobile SDK. Digades utilized Sygic’s technology to streamline the development process and to create a product that meets the specific needs of motorcyclists.
