Yamaha 530 TMAX MT3 by LaZareth | NEWS
The alpine town of Annecy, South-Eastern France. Known for its Vieille Ville (old town) with its cobbled streets, winding canals, pastel-coloured houses and the medieval Château d’Annecy, once home to the Counts of Geneva. Sounds nice. It’s also where that crazy-talented French automotive designer ‘Lazareth’, has gone and shunted a pair of wheels onto the front of a Yamaha Tmax 530, creating the first Tmax ‘MT3’.
Details of the one-off job are a bit thin but there’s not really much to tell because it retains the wheelbase and pretty much all of the same specs of the Yamaha original with the exception of improved brakes all round and a pair of Michelin City Grip 120/70R12 tyres on the front rig. That set-up increases the overall weight by 18Kg but that doesn’t mean you have to be picky about the size of your pillions. It also utilises an anti-tilting mechanism, which means never having to put your feet down.
As far as Lazareth are concerned, the MT3 is a one-off. An “exercise of style and innovation” to show off the company’s ability rather than a concept for future production. They’re not looking at marketing the trike. It was built as a commission by an English client who wanted a high performance maxi scooter with the stability and safety of a 3-wheeler. This is what s/he got. The betting is s/he’s pleased.
