WIN a jacket – New RST collection for 2019 | COMPETITION
Leading British motorcycle clothing brand, RST recently unveiled their 2019 collection at their Derbyshire HQ. In our experience, RST products have been reliable, good looking, affordable and do what they’re meant to do. In fact, I’m still wearing the RST Adventure textiles I’ve had for the last seven years and trust them when it’s likely to be very cold or very wet.
RST are designed by British riders at MotoDirect’s HQ and made at their own factory overseas. As a brand RST have grown hugely over the last few years and are the approved safety partner for the TT and are the choice of many riders at both domestic and world level racing. They were also one of the pioneering firms to adopt the recently introduced PPE regulation for motorcycle clothing. All the RST range meets or exceeds the current European standards.
2019 new jackets
We’re not going to bore you with the whole RST range here, you can browse their 2019 catalogue at your leisure by clicking this link. What we are going to do is show you a few of the jackets that caught our eye and that might just interest fellow scooter riders. Aside from jackets RST are also big in the world of race leathers, textiles, wax cotton and TT branded motorcycle clothing.
Chelsea 3/4 length jacket: £199.99
This jacket has ‘scooter’ written all over it, well actually it doesn’t because the branding is very, very subtle. In fact there is none, other than a monochrome Union Jack on the sleeve. You’ll need to look inside to even see who makes this one. The Chelsea was designed specifically for the French scooter market and forms part of the new RST Metropolitan range. The French wanted a stylish waterproof jacket with CE protection and a little bit of ooh, la, la. They also specified the Union Jack – cool Britannia. The jacket comes with a SinAqua Pro waterproof breathable liner, removable thermal lining and fleece lined pockets (to keep your hands warm off the scooter). It also has a drawstring hood.
The Chelsea jacket is CE certified and also comes with Level 1 CE approved shoulder and elbow protection, plus a pocket for an optional back protector.
The X-Raid is inspired by military jackets and comes complete with molle straps sewn into the left breast, these can be used with the small optional removable pocket bag. The jacket also comes with three Velcro on ‘Morale patches’ these stick on to the right breast and you can swap them to suit your mood or have your D.O.B and blood group embroidered on to one. You get an RST/Union Jack and plain patch with the jacket.
The jacket itself is made from Ripstop and Ballistic fabric and has a fixed SinAqua Pro waterproof and breathable liner, and removable thermal liner. It’s adjustable, thanks to the waist and arm buckles so you can adjust the jacket to get the perfect fit. The 360° connection zip easily attaches to the X-Raid jean (or any other RST bottoms). The jacket also comes with a CE Level 2 back protector and CE Level 2 shoulder and elbow armour, and TPU shoulder cups. It features a map pocket, two keyless ignition pockets and comes in various colours. We’re currently reviewing one of these, you can see it in action on last week’s GTS launch.
RST GT CE Textile jacket: £259.99
The GT Textile Jacket is certified to CE Level 2 and comes complete with a CE Level 2 back protector, shoulder and elbow armour. Made from HTC fabric and Ballistic, it’s also reinforced with Maxtex for added support. The GT has a SinAqua waterproof, breathable lining and removable quilted thermal lining. Plus the 360° connection zip allows for easy connection to the matching GT Textile jean. It’s available in both gents and ladies and comes in plain black, or with a variety of coloured details.
