Staying Local? Virtual Scarborough Easter event | NEWS
This time last year as we were getting used to the novelty of being grounded (for the first time in years) we’d never have envisaged that we’d still be having our wings clipped by Easter 2021 and our annual scooter trip to the North Yorkshire coast would be curtailed… yet again!
Neither would we have thought that heavily-armed police would be patrolling the beaches of Scarborough with orders to shoot the first person they spot who has broken the ‘Stay Local’ message. Anybody wearing a target-covered parka, or pork pie hat is at extreme risk. At least try and blend in if you do venture to the seaside…
Luckily there is at least a bit of hope on the horizon now and we can all start to get ready to party over the summer months. Most of us will be jabbed up and ready to ride when the time comes.
Virtual Scarborough
If you’re home for Easter and fancy a virtual Scarborough there’s a weekend of online entertainment lined up for you with various DJs and organisations getting involved. All the details are on the flyer and you can join in the fun on Scooterist Internet Radio and on Mixcloud (using the other links on the flyer). With DJs from VFM, Scooterist Radio, Prodigy Scooter Collective, In the Groove and others there’ll be a good mixture of music for everybody.
Scarborough nostalgia feature
Our Col hails from Scarborough and will be taking a nostalgic look at the town and its scooter rally history on Good Friday. If you like a bit of history (and some facts only Col would know) make sure you tune in here this Friday.

The photo was a real photo from the beaches of Scarborough but the context wasn’t real. It was actually an anti-terrorist police presence.
