Hot-off-the-press news following the loss of one of the British Scooter Sport Organisation’s championship rounds at Cadwell Park is that Andy Barnes (racer and SLUK writer) has stepped in at the last minute to offer a replacement venue for the meeting on the same weekend.
Andy organises various motorsport events and has invited the BSSO racers to compete on track in front of around 6,000 spectators at Croft circuit, near Darlington at Petrol and Pistons on Sunday August 21st.
Petrol & Pistons mixes all types of 2, 3 and 4-wheeled vehicles together with stunt shows and track activities in a festival atmosphere. The sudden influx of racing scooters is really going to drop some jaws but we want to do more.
SLUK has been given the opportunity to have a section of the event dedicated to scooters, and we want to show exactly how diverse the scooter community is. We’d like to gather together an array of different scooter styles from rat-scoot through to Mod, classic to full-custom, oddball to automatic. While the details have yet to be finalised the hope is to have some decent trophies on offer.
Even if you don’t have a scooter worth entering, at £10 on the door (£8 in advance) this is probably one of the cheapest ways you can get to see six live scooter races, never mind all of the other attractions on offer on the day.
