SIP and NORDSPEED join forces | NEWS
German scooter giants, SIP are working together with legendary tuning company, NORDSPEED from Northern Germany to produce a series of exhausts with the best characteristics and features for tuned Vespa engines. Tobi Rußmann’s products are the reference point for many when it comes to 200cc Vespa largeframe models. He manages to eek the most performance out of an engine, whilst working within the confines of the cramped space between the cylinder studs. The exhausts come with the latest features, a gas sealing O-ring flange, EGT and Lambda connections, as standard.
SIP Racing exhaust R2:
Developed especially for the Malossi MHR cylinder kits and having been used on engines up to 50bhp the R2 is designed for top spec engines. Up until the R2 arrived rear wheel figures of 50bhp were considered impossible. This exhaust isn’t marketed as an everyday pipe, this is for high-powered engines and rideability will suffer around town, it’s made to make the use of an engine’s power high in the rev range.
For the R2 to exploit its full potential, it is imperative that the other components of the engine provide the necessary environment. These include an intake manifold with a large cross-section and at least a 35mm carb. The cylinder should be a potent tuning cylinder. Preferably a Malossi MHR or Quattrini M232/244. The engine’s port timings are also critical, according to Nordspeed the R2 exhaust won’t work well unless the following criteria is adhered to:
Transfer port timing: 138°
Exhaust port timing: 198°
Conclusion: the R2 represents the absolute peak of possible performance. But needs a carefully adapted engine and cuts back on everyday practicality.

SIP Racing Exhaust Camaro:
The Camaro is a better choice for everyday use, it’s an exhaust that will make best use of the engine’s torque with a nice range of speed and power and a good peak performance. It’s designed for the ride to work, or for touring when used on the correct engine set up. You’ll need a decent sized carburettor, revised inlet and a decent tuning kit. For the Camaro to work optimally, it is very important that the timing of the cylinder used matches the layout of the exhaust:
Transfer port timing: 124 ° -130°
Exhaust port timing: 186 ° -194°
Blowdown timing: 30 ° -32°
Conclusion: the perfect exhaust for a very powerful everyday engine with good torque and a well-balanced mix of rev range and performance.
