Scooterist Tips #1 – It’s a drain: handy tip for engine oil disposal | WORKSHOP
Here at SLUK we welcome cheap and easy tips for getting round messy and mundane tasks, particularly if it means looking after the environment… let’s face it, it’s not as though most of us ride around on high polluting two strokes, is it? Tony Higgs gives us a top tip on how to get rid of your engine oil using recycled plastic milk bottles. It really doesn’t get much cheaper, or easier, than that.

Oh, how draining
Top tip for a quick and easy oil tray when draining the old gearbox oil from your scooter.
Simply raid your re-cycling bin for an old 4-pint plastic milk container. Retain its screw cap and cut a window in the widest side with a sharp knife to create an opening in which to capture the spent lubricant.
You can then decant safely (without spilling a drop) into a second container for transport and disposal down at your local authorities recycling centre (formerly known as ‘the tip’) where most have the facility for the recycling of old motor oil. Simples!

I use the good ol’ recycled milk bottle. Then paint the shed with it. Probably not great for the environment. But it makes the wood last longer.
