SLUK Bullet screen | Scomadi TL

Rated 5.00 out of 5 based on 1 customer rating
(1 customer review)

£118.50 – £124.00

The SLUK Bullet TL Scomadi screen is exclusive to SLUK and will fit all Chinese built Scomadi TL models.

Like our other classic screens, the Bullet TL screen was inspired by the original café racer Biemme screen from the 1960s and of course our XL5 for the Li/GP/SX, although the styling and fit have been tweaked to suit the Scomadi headset (we’ve also trimmed it slightly further back now for a more flattering shape).

Description

There are no ugly brackets. Instead, the screen clamps around the headset using a special Hi-Torque* stainless steel band fastener.

The original Biemme screens were made from 2mm plastic. Ours are made from 4mm acrylic-coated ABS material and come in a choice of high gloss black, white, silver or carbon effect and can be painted to match your scooter for that bespoke look.

Does it do anything?

It improves aerodynamics, speed and riding comfort simply by deflecting some of the wind that would normally hit you in the chest. You should expect 1 or 2 mph improvement in top speed as a result. This is cheap and effective tuning. Also the screen provides a place behind which you may hide additional instruments or a GPS unit without spoiling the look of your scooter.

Assembly

It’s hardly an IKEA sideboard but there is a minor bit of home assembly required, the clear ‘cockpit’  and laser-cut stainless trim (peel off the backing paper if you want a polished finish to your trim, or use the other way up for a matt finish) needs attaching to the main part of the screen using the supplied 7 stainless steel bolts and Nyloc nuts. The metal trim sits uppermost.

Fitting

Fitting is simple thanks to the Hi-Torque fastener which slides over the inner lip of the screen. Not only is it quick and easy to fit but it also means taking it off is simple when you need to get into the headset to change a bulb.

Wrap it

Before fitting simply wrap a length of quality electrical tape (Gaffa tape, or 3M tape gives good adhesion and is thick enough to allow the Hi-Torque fitting to grip firmly) around your headlight rim and any painted areas that the screen touches. The tape serves to protect the paintwork and also to give the gloss screen a good surface to grip on to. Simply slide the screen over the headlight rim and tighten the clip, either using a screwdriver or socket.
Adjustment
The screen has been trimmed for clearance to the legshields but it can be trimmed further at home if needed to clear any accessories you have. You can trim the ABS with a Dremel or a hand file.

FEATURES:

  • Designed and made in the UK.
  • Exclusive SLUK product
  • Simple to fit: pushes over the headlight rim and secures to the headset using the Hi-Torque clip.
  • Quick to remove: for ease of changing bulbs.
  • Made from tough ABS plastic (as used for most motorcycle fairings) it can be easily trimmed, sanded or painted.
  • Produced in racy high-gloss finish (white/black/silver/carbon effect)
  • Fully packaged and ready to fit after simple assembly.
  • Shipped direct from the manufacturer.
  • Made to order but usually shipped within 3 days.
  • UK postage £6.95, World £15

* Hi-Torque fasteners can be tightened to 15Nm (approximately 3 times tighter than a traditional hose clip) however over-tightening risks damage to the screen. We recommend you periodically tighten the band to ensure the screen remains firmly fixed.

* At least a single layer of electrical tape must be applied to the headset before fitting the screen if you do not want the paint to become marked during use.

  1. Rated 5 out of 5

    George Lafferty – April 8, 2017

being born in the mid 60’s i showed an early interest in moto gp with the likes of barry sheene, kenny roberts & johnny cecotto. i always fancied the fairings, that adapted nicely to the curves of the bike. so does this one. i didn’t want to gain 0.5 hp or 2 mph speed but give the scooter some extra. easy fit in about 5 minutes, probably even less, if all tools are handy. the only thing i’m not a 100 % sure about is, if the material is thick enough, since it does vibrate quite a bit. not to the extent i feel it might fly off, but still. all in all i reckon it’s looks the dogs, that’s what it’s all about for me. well done ! george lafferty
