To this day that ignorance persists. Tens of thousands of people all around the world
who identified themselves as Scooterboys, Scootergirls or simply as Scooterists have
never had much formal recognition. Only cultural mislabelling by muppets who can’t
tell an MA1 flight jacket from a mohair suit.
As such, Scooterboys like us remain the hidden tribe of Britain’s youth culture
jungle. We are undiscovered and uncelebrated, but purer as a result.
It’s time to set the record straight. It’s time to explain how we were different from the tribes that went before.
YOUTH CULTURE, CARPET BOMBED
Released as the third volume of Carpet Bombing Culture’s ‘Two Finger Salute’ series, Sticky charts the rise of Scooterboy culture from its ‘70s roots, through the heyday of the 80s and beyond.
The book is illustrated with original 1980s scooter rally images obtained mainly from private scooterist collections. Many of these are previously unpublished.
This is the first hardback book on the Scooterboy phenomenon.
