One for the customisers out there (rather than the misers) is this natty alloy light unit from Motone.
We got one to test in desperation for my lad’s Lui which vibrates so much it has filled a cemetery of bulbs and other cheap LED light units. The difference with the Motone one is that all the flat LEDs are surface mounted onto a board and thus seem to hold up better against vibration. Well, so far so good anyway.
The alloy housing is 77mm wide with a 50mm lens. Two M5 fixing studs on the rear are 30mm apart.
The surface-mount LEDs are in a smart radial pattern that glows brighter with the brake circuit activated. There is also a window in the houseing backed by a row of white LEDs that acts as a number-plate light.
This E-marked unit is available in 3 different finishes (polished or shot-blasted alloy, or black painted) and theres also an optional ‘mudguard mount’
Where to buy
Prices for the Bel Air start at £49,99 which seems fair for such a nicely-made piece of kit. You can find out more from the Motone website.
