We brought you the first images of the new Malossi PX crankcases from EICMA last week. UK Malossi importer, VE (UK) have announced their imminent release and expected retail price.
It’s strange to think that just three or four years ago we didn’t have a choice of new Vespa casings. The old stock of Piaggio parts had pretty much dried up, then boosh, Pinasco released their new Master & Slave PX casings. Then BFA Motori released their big horsepower motors and now Malossi enter the game with two new PX 200 casings. Meanwhile, the world tries to ban anything still running on fossil fuels, madness!
Standard or reed
The PX 200 casings will be available in both standard rotary inlet (part number VM577245) and reed valve induction (part number VM577230). Making them an ideal base to build either a standard or performance engine.
The rotary valve crankcase has the ability to reuse the standard SI series carburettors and retain the oil injection system, or can be used with larger carb kits if required. The reed valve crankcase is supplied with a reed valve manifold for carbs up to 30mm in diameter and has been designed to use a much larger reed block that is equivalent in size to a 6-petal block.
The casings have been beefed up around the bolt hole areas and use M8 bolts to hold the two halves together, as opposed to the M7 standard bolts. The casings have also been designed to match perfectly with the Malossi cylinder kits.
Rotary valve: £699.82
Reed induction: £792.86
They’re due to arrive in February 2019 and you can order online at VE (UK)
