NEW damaged nut/bolt extractor from Laser | NEWS
VIDEO | See them in action
I’m sure most scooter owners have had problems with a damaged or rounded off nut, it’s usually the last one you need to remove as well. It might be corroded and repeated attempts to shift it make it round off and you end up trying all sorts to shift it, Dremel, hacksaw, angle grinder, big hammer, Semtex…. This new tool from Laser might just save the day.
What is it?
It’s an ingenious new Damaged Nut/Bolt Extractor Set from Laser Tools. This set is made up of a set of cleverly designed hexagon bolt and nut extractor adaptor caps. These specially hardened caps fit over the rounded off fixing and allow a standard 12-point socket or ring spanner to be used to remove the rounded off fastener. The extractor cap grips and moulds itself to the rounded-off fastener and keeps on gripping until it loosens off.
There are 12 sizes included in the set: 8mm, 9mm, 10mm, 11mm, 12mm, 13mm, 14mm, 15mm, 16mm, 17mm, 18mm and 19mm. For lightly rounded-off fasteners the caps can be used again and again, but for more stubborn fasteners the caps are classed as consumable items (replacements parts are available to keep your set complete).
Price and availability
We’ve not tried these yet but Laser Tools are generally good value for money (in fact my favourite T-handle set and mini socket set is from Laser).
Priced at just £13.73 these are well worth keeping in the garage for the next time you’re about to throw your toys out of the pram. More details at Laser Tools.
