Aprilia are bringing the SXR 50 to the UK. We recently covered a story, where the 160cc version had picked up three top awards as best scooter of the year in India.
At the moment it looks like we’re only going to get the i-Get 50cc version over here but it’s got a great spec. It’s also designed to have the feel of the sporty-looking SR 50 and the looks and practicality of a GT class scooter so it appeals to a broader range of riders.
The Euro 5, fuel-injected 4-stroke engine comes from the Piaggio i-Get family. It’s a 3-valve single-cylinder engine that exceeds 40 km per litre of fuel. Whilst an efficient injection system helps the scooter to accelerate well – on a 4-stroke fifty you need all the help you can get.
A sturdy single-cradle frame, telescopic front fork and single adjustable rear shock, 12″ wheels, shod with 120/70 rubber and a 220mm front disc/140mm rear drum means the scooter should handle itself well enough.
MIA connectivity system
Aprilia are offering a range of accessories for the SXR, including a taller front screen, non-slip rubber mat, leg cover, side stand and 32-litre colour-coded topbox. There’s also the option to add an Aprilia MIA connectivity system giving you a chance to take full advantage of the scooter’s LCD dash and Bluetooth capabilities.
The SXR 50 is available in two classic colours, Essence White and Indistinctive Grey. There are also a couple of sportier-looking options, Power Red and Enigma Black (matt) complete with contrasting graphics.
See it in the flesh at your local Aprilia dealer, it’s priced at £2400.
