Moment in Time: Stuart Day backing it in | RETRO VIBE
Who: Stuart Day
What: Backing it in
Where: East Fortune, Scotland
When: May 2016
Why: The moment you know there’s no saving it
The track was East Fortune in Scotland. It was the first race on the Saturday, I spent all race chasing Mike Bonett. On the last lap I managed to get past him, there was one corner left before the finish line. I knew Mike was right behind me and I gave it a bit too much stick exiting the corner and the back end stepped out. I ended up crashing with not much damage to myself, other than severe bruising and stiffness (enough to keep me off work for a week). Mike got to the flag to take the well-deserved win, it was a really good race until then.
The bike and my riding gear were totalled though, my team, SRP Racetech have pulled out all the stops to rebuild it ready for this weekend at Darley Moor. Thanks to Ralph Remnant and Paul Baker for doing everything possible to get it ready. Hopefully I’ll be able to race at Darley, even if it is at a slightly slower pace. Getting four finishes is important for the championship points.
