Manchester St George’s charity scooter ride 2017 | NEWS
This Sunday is a chance for scooterists to have a great day out, as they ride through the city of Manchester as part of the Lancashire Alliance St George’s Day Ride. It’ll also be a great chance to help raise some much needed funds to help complete an ex-services hub for our veterans.
As an added bonus it’s also on St George’s Day, so you can be part of the official Greater Manchester St George’s Day Parade. A huge city centre parade to celebrate the English patron saint’s special but often overlooked day.
Veteran’s Garage
The fund-raising is on behalf of the Veteran’s Garage. It’s an ambitious project to give veterans a hub, a place to go to learn new skills and have a place to get together. Focussed on cars, bikes and aviation it’ll have a restoration garage, games room, cafe, bar and plenty of other activities, as well as classrooms for veteran’s to have somewhere to go, get qualifications and reclaim the sense of camaraderie often lost after active service. The garage will be open to everybody though and they need funds to realise the ambitious project.
The meeting point is at Castlefield Arena at 11.30am on Sunday 23rd April. The entrance is next to the Oxnoble pub off Liverpool Road, Postcode: M34NQ.
