Man sought in connection with Wildcat Scooters arson | NEWS
As reported previously on SLUK, South Wales based Wildcat Scooters suffered a fire bomb attack on Friday 24th of June . The Newport dealer was targeted in the early hours of the morning and disaster was narrowly averted, thanks to a light sleeping neighbour who lives in a flat above the shop and the quick response of the local fire brigade who are based less than a mile away.
Police are now looking for the individual shown in the above photograph who is believed to have poured accelerant through a window and started the fire. Gwent police can be contacted on 01633 838111 quoting the log number: 135 24/06/16.
Bob Rendell told us “I think we were about three minutes from disaster as the internal blind had caught and the flames were touching the ceiling”. The molotov cocktail was thrown through a window, luckily chicken wire on the inside prevented it going right through the glass and although the stock was wet from the fire brigade damping everything down all the scooters were polished and back on display on Friday.
Bob said it was “Clearly a targeted attack and it’s crazy to think that there’s someone out there that would be mad enough to set the wheels in motion for this. The other thing is that there’s a guy who looks after the building, he lives upstairs. We could be talking something much more serious if things had turned out differently. We definitely dodged a bullet here and are in clean up mode and getting on with it so all is good”.
The police and fire brigade are still investigating the incident and security is being beefed up at the shop.
