Lambretta Club of Great Britain – Coast 2 Coast 2018 | RALLERY
We’ve been blessed with unusually tropical weather for the last couple of scooter events, it started with the Lambretta Club of Great Britain’s popular Coast 2 Coast event a few weeks ago (Mike Oxley reports on that one here) and we’ll be bringing you the scorching Tenby Rallery in a few days time…
This year’s Coast to coast was as usual a fantastic event hosted by the Lambretta Club of Great Britain. We enjoyed a troublefree ride through from Hull with the small exception of running out of fuel two miles from the very sparse petrol stations around there. A large group of us stayed over the Friday night in Grange over Sands to socialise and have a few bevies (in the three pubs I believe the place holds!).
Meeting the next morning at the Commodore Inn, where riders received a legshield banner and directions for the route ahead.
The sun was shining, unlike the first National Rally of the season in Whitby! The route heading from Kirby Lonsdale to Hawes had some spectacular views and the best riding roads in Yorkshire and felt like you were on top of the world heading past the Station Inn at Ribblehead Viaduct.
Heading through Hawes, and making our way to Leyburn via Buttertubs pass, where Richard Oswald was waiting at the Bolton Arms to stamp our half way point card given to us at the start point, also to receive a sticker that normally are applied to Lambretta toolboxes.
Refreshments and an arse break were also much appreciated. Afterwards making our way through Northallerton, Thirsk and heading towards Cod beck reservoir and over the moors where there was an ice cream van that looked irresistible.
Finally, the journey ended in Saltburn by Sea at The Spa, riders signed on receiving a pin badge and the normal chinwag continued talking about the ride. The evening of Saturday was also at The Spa, where the social evening took place upstairs, once again a great event held by Lambretta Club of Great Britain.
Some sad news was received at the finish about Shaun Burns a member of Leeds Central Scooter Club, who sadly passed away suddenly at home on Saturday morning.
Well until next time, thank you LCGB for another fantastic event, keep it up.
