800-19

Swiss scooter brand, Qooder (formerly known as Quadro in the UK) have just delivered a fleet of 11 new leaning four-wheeled scooters to the Italian Red Cross. The scooters will be used to help Italy’s ‘Phase 2’ health and administrative measures following the Covid-19 emergency.

The specially equipped CRI (Croce Rossa Italiana) features an increased load capacity, a 58-litre aluminium top case, height-adjustable screen to protect the rider from the weather and a navigation holder. All the scooters will be equipped with two-tone sirens homologated with the ‘ambulance’ sound, two LED spotlights with flashing lights and a blue night cruise light. They also have a second flash lamp with a flashing light and night cruise light on the top case. The extra lights and sirens are powered by a secondary battery.

Giovanni di Furnari, Commercial Director, Qooder says “2020 will again see Qooder by the side of those who, on a daily basis, serve the most vulnerable. These activities make us very proud, especially in such a delicate period, to reassure operators and prevent the spreading of Covid-19,”

“Safety, versatility and agility are essential elements of the means of transportation we use in our services, especially in an emergency like this,” states the Italian Red Cross. “These features were found in the Qooder vehicles, some of which have been in our fleet since last summer. These new 11 vehicles, delivered to our Committees in the area, will be used to further enhance the main activities carried out in the moment, such as home delivery of groceries, medicines and basic necessities for people with great social fragility and health.”

Like the Quadro we tested back in 2016, the Qooder features four wheels for hugely improved stability. It’s made up of a twin rear-wheel drive with mechanical differential and an integral braking system to all four wheels. The patented HTS (Hydraulic Tilting System) suspension is unique to Qooder and helps to reduce weight and lower the centre of gravity.

Qooder plan to relaunch the brand in the UK this year and we’ll be keeping an eye on them.
