Scooterists have been raising money for charity ever since we sunk the sea cadets boat at Rhyl in 1987. Thirty years later our guilt led fund-raising has spiralled out of control and millions of scooterist pounds go towards various charities each year. The latest one set to benefit is the Alzheimer’s Society, thanks to the brave lady members of the Doughboys Scooter Club.
Club member, Lisa Kightley came up with the idea for a ‘Calendar Girls’ type shoot and after winning over the nervous members the ball was soon rolling. After pitching to local businesses for sponsorship KTP Motorcycles agreed to stump up the cash to have the calendar printed. Meanwhile local scooterist and keen photographer, Ruthie McGarry (Captured by Ruthie) was approached and coerced into taking the saucy shots, just as Storm Katy hit the UK. Undettered our brave scooter girls made it to the shoot unscathed and the rest is history. The calendar was launched to an embarassed mostly male audience on 25th September at Snooks Club in Rushden and it’s on sale now.
