Christmas cards by Colin? | NEWS
Our SLUK ad designer, and fellow scooterist Simon Duncan (the man behind our April Fools day Royalloy Cuckoo clock and last year’s spoof Ladybird scooter book covers) has been granted permission to use this old BASF cassette advert image for use in a set of special edition Christmas cards.
For those that don’t already know, the young man on the scooter is none other than Colin Bunn (as interviewed for SLUK by Sticky). He was a prolific scooter collector and 1980s mod poster boy. Since that interview, Colin has sold off his collection of 120 Lambrettas to Disco Dez in the West Midlands.
So what better way to make use of the epitome of overloaded mod scooters than to use this blinged up ‘Christmas Tree’ SX as the basis for a retro pack of Christmas cards?
They’re limited edition and went on sale today (Saturday 17th November). Priced at just £6.99 (including postage). That’s for a set of five luxury cards in various colours, with envelopes, depicting Colin’s iconic scooter, taken from the 1982 BASF advert “Chrome by Colin.”
