Andy Francis Lambretta UJ | COMPONENT REVIEWS
Universal Joint fuel tap knuckle from Andy Francis Scooters
What’s the problem?
The annoying wear you get in the silly brass connectors with split-pins on normal Lambretta fuel taps.
What’s the solution?
Andy Francis new Universal Joint (UJ) which connects both parts of the tap and rod with grub-screw fitment.
What’s involved?
You must cut the flat section off your old fuel tap rod and ideally file a flat onto the remaining rod at 90-degrees to the lever, for the grub screw to lock against. A drop of Loctite is advisable on the thread of the grub screw, but bear in mind that this is only a 2mm Allen key screw so don’t go mad with the glue if you ever want to get it off again.
Any Tips?
Bearing in mind the sticky situation (see what I did there) you’ll be in if you Loctite the grub screw and then round its head, a good solution is to replace the grub screw with a cut-down M4 Stainless steel bolt.
How to get?
Price is £5.95 + P&P from Andy Francis Scooters but you can get a better deal by emailing andy@andyfrancis.wanadoo.co.uk and saying you saw it on SLUK.
