ADVANCE WARNING! Get your SLUK Plastics ordered | NEWS
I’m sure many of you are busy rebuilding, prepping and fettling your scooters ready for the 2019 season. I’d also wager a bet that lots of you will leave it until the very last minute before you realise you need a new SLUK screen to finish a project off, or maybe one of our oil carriers, a SLUK Support to help with your luggage, a SLUK Guard to keep the rust at bay on the new GTS you just ordered… or any one of our other 50 practical and good looking SLUK Plastic products.
The reason for this post is to let you know that our plastic surgeon, Nigel has a big Birthday coming up at the start of March and he’s treating himself to an exotic two week holiday at Butlins in Bognor Regis. Whilst Nigel is away living it up you won’t be able to order any of our plastic wares. So from March the 1st till the 15th, we’ll be taking SLUK plastics off the shop listings.
Made in England
All of our SLUK Plastics are conceived by road going scooterists who know what will work and what won’t. They’re designed, developed and hand manufactured in small quantities in England meaning we can oversee all aspects of fit and finish. We’re proud to fly the ‘Made in England’ flag and don’t use dodgy Far Eastern sweatshops to mass produce and sell cheap.
Good ideas wanted
We’re also always looking for new practical product ideas so if you think of something your scooter needs just let us know and we’ll see if we can develop it.
We try to develop products that look good, serve a purpose, fit well and work. For instance, we make three types of spare wheel oil carrier for Vespa and Lambretta.
We also made the Lambretta Series 3 rear mud flaps pictured above, complete with a recess to fit one of our gel GB (or your own country) badges ready for your Euro trips.
Without a doubt, our most popular product is the Vespa GTS SLUK Guard, a simple mudguard extension designed to help keep corrosion at bay. We’ve recently developed the 2019 HPE version (above left) especially for the new shape mudguard (some later 2018 models also came with this slightly altered mudguard fitted).
COMING SOON – Lambretta Lui screens
Seeing as 2019 is seemingly the Italian year of the Lui we’ve just started development on two new screens for those once neglected smallframe Lambretta models. The first one of which should be available just before Nigel packs his Speedos and bucket and spade.
If the end product is as good as we expect I think you Lui/Vega fans are in for a treat. The photo above was taken whilst templating and shaping one of the prototype screens. The end result will be a double curvature screen made in 6 mm edge-lit acrylic in a choice of five funky colours, in keeping with the Lui styling. We’re also experimenting with a Lui version of our XL5 screen so watch this space.
New products always in development…
