ABSAAR ‘world’s slimmest’ jump starter | REVIEW
The Absaar AB-MJS150 is a 3-in-1 mobile phone sized jump-starter. It can start a GTS from dead, charge your phone and light the way back to a tent when you’re drunk… It’s small but packs a mighty punch.
Modern life means we need power on the go, whether that be to charge a phone or start a scooter. This 3-in-1 ABSAAR battery pack can do both very easily. It also has a handy torch/flashlight to help you see and be seen.
I’ve been using this for a couple of months now and when it arrived I was surprised at just how small and light it was. I’ve had cheaper battery packs to charge a phone before but that’s usually all they can do, the ABSAAR has another trick up its sleeve. This one packs a mighty 6,000 mAh punch so it can re-charge a phone between 5 and 7 times. Making it an ideal thing to stick in your glovebox when on a rally.
Jump start a scooter
That’s not all it can do though. It comes with a set of jump leads and can also jump start a scooter/bike or even a petrol-engined car from flat. It works even when the ABSAAR isn’t fully-charged – impressive. Watch the video below to see how it works…
As you’ve seen it can starts the GTS without hesitation, even though it’s starting the scooter from a flat PX battery, rather than a GTS one.
Prior to this test I’d been using the ABSAAR as ‘just’ a useful iPhone battery charger. On a camping rally it’s often tricky to keep a phone charged and even if you have a 12v point fitted to your scooter it can soon flatten a battery if you charge it a few times over a weekend. I’ve seen a fair few GTS owners trying to scrounge jump leads on a Sunday morning. Having this in your toolbox gives you added peace of mind. With winter coming a scooter battery can quickly lose it’s charge so this can make the difference between getting home, or getting to work if yours fails suddenly.
Small in size, big on power
Size wise the ABSAAR mini jump starter MJS150IS is hardly any bigger than my iPhone 5. With Lithium Ion technology it’s similar in size to a larger iPhone 6, and weighs a similar amount. The charger measures just 1350mm x 780mm x 14mm and weighs 220grammes.
It’s small enough to fit in a pocket (not that you’d really want to carry it around with you) or in a scooter glovebox, I leave mine inside my GTS glovebox plugged in to the USB point, so it’s always charged.
The ABSAAR AB-MJS150 retails at £59.95 but it’s a small price for being able to keep your phone topped up and start a scooter if and when you need to.
