Tomorrow the BSSO scooter racing championship begins with the first official test day at Midlands circuit Mallory Park near Leicester.

This will be our first opportunity to see who is racing what this year and SLUK will bring you an update next week.

Title Sponsor

The first big news is that Vittorio Tessera has confirmed Casa Lambretta are back again as overall championship sponsor. This is despite the Italian team not returning to the UK to defend Luca Zani’s Group 6 Championship victory. They are however hoping to contest at least one UK round using the awesome SSR250.

LCGB Production Class

The Lambretta Club of Great Britain have also continued their sponsorship of the highly successful Production Class where the racing is all down to the rider – with all machines using fixed specifications and AF RB20 kits.

Last year was an all-Lambretta affair (won by SLUK rider Barrie Braithwaite) despite there being rules for Vespas. This year as well as a few new Lambretta teams competing, after quite a bit of off-season seat-hopping, we also understand there will be one Malossi-kitted smallframe Vespa.

Will a nimble smallframe be competitive against the army of Lambrettas? We’ll get an answer soon…

Confirmed Calendar

The Race Calendar for 2017 will see the BSSO UK race series visit some of the Country’s best equipped, challenging and exciting spectator circuits with both Anglesey and Snetterton returning to host championship rounds.

The newly-titled Casa Lambretta 2017 British Scooter Championship kicks off in earnest at Croft in the North East over the weekend of 1st and 2nd April and features 9 Rounds, concluding with the now traditional series decider at Cadwell Park in September.

This year we are promised a revival of the sidecar class.

Spectators

Watching the Mallory practice day tomorrow is free, but every meeting is open for spectators and provides a great day out for anyone who loves the howl and smell of a two-stroke engine.

On top of the full calendar the BSSO have also been invited to provide a demonstration as part of the massive Festival Italia event at Brands Hatch in Kent.  Dates for all the events are in the calendar below.
